Cars and girls

Ok.. Coming from a self-declared petrolhead like me its nothing surprising right? But honestly, there are some similarities, or so I think. So here goes...

A Range Rover is like the rugged yet classy type of girl. They are chic and trendy and would not seem out of place trundling down Orchard Road as they would be getting their feet muddy and scratches on their bodies off the beaten track and into the wilderness. More so recently, there are many 'soft-roaders' that are more form than function. You can refer to these as poseurs.

A Ferrari is like a supermodel. Effective in showing off to the boys but not as well received by your folks at home. Costs ALOT of moolah to own and maintain, and sometimes extremely impractical.

A Toyota is like any typical girl you see on the streets. Very very common, but extremely practical, helps you save money, trustworthy, reliable and everyone in the household loves her.

A BMW Z4 is like a beachbabe, who is sporty and fun, loves the sun and looks equally stunning topless and top up.

An Aston Martin is like the extremely well bred and stunningly elegant LADY. She belongs to the exclusive type and ownership comes in limited numbers. Accessories that come along with with her are usually tailor made to your individual tastes. A lot of painstaking care, attention, passion and love is required.

A heavily modded Lancer/Civic/Vios/Impreza/whatever is like an Ah Lian. Often more show than go, usually loud and brash and emits alot of smoke. You would probably hear them before you see them, and often have cheap accessories to go with a garish outfit. Makes alot of noise, but usually an empty vessel.

A WRX STi/Evolution whatever series is like a dressy type of girl who is often decked out in the real stuff. Her outfit is equally loud but she has more than enough talent to ensure that its not all show no go. Definitely not a bimbo despite the airhead outlook, you would learn to appreciate her dynamic talents and more often than not she has tricks up her sleeves that keep you out of trouble. Can be very thirsty due to constant chatting and sheer athleticism.

Volkswagen Golf GTI is like the type of girl that you would not notice her understated good looks in the first place but after a while, you will learn to appreciate her practicality, sportiness, not-so-high maintainence, communicative personality, and sheer fun each and every second you spend with her.

Confusion

Sometimes things in life tend to confuse you.

So is it supposed to be absorbent or is it supposed to be waterproof?

I honestly thought I saw Viagra... Really....

I need a break

Beneath this cheerful facade lies a tired and embattled soul.

I'm going crazy. I don't even know the real me.

Too many things happening in such a short span of time.

I need to go somewhere. Not to run away, but to have some time alone, to reorganise my thoughts.

I think I may just be breaking my own heart here.

Why are we here?

Seriously, I have heard people ask this question many times. Some even feel that they are insignificant in this country or even their families or social circles, let alone this vast planet called Earth.

Look, I'm not talking about scientists, who research and find cure for diseases, not inventors, who make our lives easier, not politicians, who give us growth dividends, not architects nor civil engineers, who design and build our skyscrapers and other amazing structures, not Jamie Oliver nor Anthony Bourdain, who proved that cooking IS fun. The list of people who contributed significantly to earth and HUMANS in general can go on and on. But no, we are talking about ordinary folks, random people you pluck off the streets everyday, people like YOU and I.

Take the blind busker in the Orchard Road tunnel for example. He may be visually handicapped, but that doesn't stop him from bringing joy to people around him by his music and vocals. That is a small but significant contribution if you were to ask me.

Ok some of you can go ahead and think, "Nah, I'm just a nobody. My life is like a fish tank. The world just go by me like that." That's not what I'm driving at.

My point is, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem to you, we HAVE made contributions to life. The joy you delivered to your parents when you were born? The care and concern shown to your friends and loved ones? The bliss and love you bring to your other half? Come on, these are BIG contributions by any standards! Tell me, who can survive alone? Then you can be the proverbial "frog in the well".

Let's face it, we all need each other to survive, in terms of emotional or physical support. Everyone is here for a purpose. That's what life is all about. I mean, if God created everything around here including me and you, I'm sure each one of us exist for a purpose. Otherwise, we will be wasting God's resources right?

No matter how ordinary we are, there is still a hidden talent in us, one which can make a difference to our own lives and that of people around us. We all have this little something in us that CAN play a part. Afterall, quoting someone, we all have been champions, each one of us, when we beat all our other, erm, counterparts, and swam the way up to our, erm, goal.

Yes, so you see? We ARE champions cos we have beat a million others! So don't go on and think that you have a wretched life. Everyone of us DO make a difference, cos we are all unique as we can be!

Still think you are insignificant?

Oh no..

I'm kinda like in deep trouble now.. I just got my HR case study for exams which constitutes 20% of the total exams marks which is 40%. So this part which I totally have no clue about is HALF of the final mark.

DIE

Why didn't I pay attention in HR classes? OK I can think of an excuse that it is a class on FRIDAY night and I have morning class too so my attention span ain't that long.. But that ain't good enough I reckon. I think I might have shot myself in the foot here. I need to mug real hard for exams and can only hope my projects are good enough to pull up the final score.

I vow to pay more attention in class next semester......

Finance?

I read, I laughed, and with permission from the copyright owner, I posted it here so that others can laugh..

Don't take it with offense ok? There's no intention of malice from either me or the author, with no direct reference to anyone in particular. There's no generalisation either in any case. Its a light hearted post so just read, laugh and forget.

Quote Brather Andy:

picking the right girl is like picking the right stocks *cautions only for guys*
Message: Caution this topic is not for girls, if you want to
read it don't get offended.

ok..normally only girls get pickup...the reason can
be seriously linked to the supply and demand of
the whole gender curve...

think about it...there are more demand for girls
than there are demand for guys...guys are horny
homosapiens...they will do anything just to get
laid...females on the other hand...doesn't
really..want that kinda thing...they prefer to make
love...out of thin air...don't ask me what that
means i only let my fingers do the talking!

Anyway since the demand for girls is outrageously
higher than the demand for guys.. so girls are
obviously more expensive...ask any econs lecturer
or husband.

Thus there is no need for any lesson or guidelines
to pick up guys... but if you really need one...the
most obvious one is..wanna sleep with me (which
is a rather gentle or demure way of saying wanna
fusk?) and trust me...the success rate would be
more or less around 400%..

Ok chucking guys aside..while picking the
underlying stock....or girls.. you got to first check
out her fundamentals. Typically the Assets vs the
liabilities! of course like any other stock... the
bigger the assets the better! it will provide you with
more returns! unlike doing research on a company
assets can be easily spoted while liabilites are bit
more diffifcult.

You as a value investor got to balance the assets
and liabilites.. liabilities include things like...current
or long term. current would be the short term
quarrels or courtship funds so on and so forth..well
long term would be all of the current lialibilites in
long term...

there are a couple of ratios to lookout for, ratios
like ROA(return on assets) check out the
efficiency of the girl or debt to equity ratio which
determines how much liability would it cost you if
she is your girl.

All these are just examples because different girls
have different characteristic..but you ought to
compare ratios with the same competitors from the
same catergory to be fair. e.g. singapore with
singapore and not singapore with japan. because
obviously its of different class and environment.

Next step would be to determine the intrinsic value
of the stock..this value is normally higher than the
true worth. this is actually the most difficult part to
grasp hold of thus you might need bit of luck and
lots of research.

Like the world renown investor warren buffet. Only
invest in stock that is undervalue. In the courtship
context, it would be only invest in girls that ain't
really pretty now but has the potential to become
really pretty...however many guys disagree with
this theory, while that is because of the different
time frame they had in mind. They would be
closely related to speculators instead of long term
investor who goes for the true value of the girl.

Thus, girls who normally hang out in clubs are girls
who have reached their nominal value or are fairly
price in other words they are already pretty and
has little chances of getting any prettier. the
chances of gaining short term returns are high but
not longterm.

However nowadays there are new theories of
qualitative measurement as compared to
quantitative measures. people are looking out more
on the quality of the behaviour and character rather
than the assets value. neverthless, no matter
which method you are using the ulitmate goal is to
achieve high returns.

Ultimately try not to be both a speculator and
invester at the same time, cause you will only be
robbing yourself of your own future.

prospectus or annual report like FHM, Playboy,
maxim, SNAG are good for personal research.

Memories...

Those were the days where we boys will hang out an entire day at Sentosa, having no-barred fun, making noise, disturbing the peace and serenity of the quaint little island.

Oh I was not in this pic cos I was the one TAKING the pic.

Brathers... I demand that we meet up for a gathering soon!!

My week in retrospect

Bless me.. I saw the latest Aston Martin V8 Vantage. It's quite small, but still looks gorgeous.

My driving speed in the rain decreases by an average of 5km/h from usual, I realised on Monday.

Received my progress package letter and just submitted it online. Spending money for my proposed trip to Germany.

PM test 2 on Tuesday was not as bad as I thought it was.

I realised on Wednesday that it is not wise to piss the lecturer off. (Not me.. but oh well...)

Was serving the nation again on Thursday.

Have not been to town since last Thursday except for once to get some materials for my project. I WANT to shop!

Aha... I've submitted my marketing project yesterday. So that leaves me with just one more essay before exams. Hmm... although the latter part of the essay is about sociology and somewhat interests me, the former part simply doesn't. Still, I'm gonna grit my teeth and complete it before next Tuesday, which is my usual style.

Had late night supper with my buddy at Mac.

Balabababa..... I'm loving it!
